Query strings can have many different functions.  Whether they will help you depends on what you do with them.  Do they cause different content to appear on your pages?  Do you use them for tracking purposes?  In either case, they may have a benefit.

But just adding nonsense querystrings to your URLs would not help you at all.

What kind of querystrings are you talking about?

You can use "Insert Dynamic Text" inside the URL.

You can redirect to a search result page on you site (www.yoursite.com/search?query={keyword}), or you can modify the headline slightly to match the keyword, as this might help you "talk" to the visitor/customer in his "language".

Make sure that the page is relevant to the keyword, but you may want to change the words used on the page based on the keywords.

Example headline in page: "Heavy Duty Garden Chair". For the keyword "Gardening Chair" you might want to change the headline to "Heavy Duty Gardening Chair", or "Heavy Duty Lawn Chair" for Lawn Chair.
