    Replacing ads: Anyone done this?

I have a large number of adgroups (several thousand) where I display the price in the ad. Every day the price changes and I need to upload the new ads and replace yesterdays ads.

I can bulk upload the new ads (todays ads) to the existing adgroups, but I have not found a way of making the old ads ( yesterdays ) paused or inactive.

What happens is the new ad goes live in addition to the old ad, and the only way is one at a time pause the old ads, which is impractical given the number of ads.

Has anyone come up against this and found a solution? I have the desktop editor but have not found a way of doing this.

    All help is appreciated.

I don't have the adCenter Desktop, but I know that in the Google Adwords Editor, there's an option to replace all text ads in that adgroup (so if you're submitting updated text ads, the other text ads for that adgroup will be deleted).

Again, I don't have the adCenter Desktop, but this is an option that should be there, or that you should request.

Try re-loading the old ads. Set the status to "Delted". When you go back into the editor, don't muck around, just save the ads. This *should* delete the old ads. It is very kludgey but I have do it successfully ... once. If you look at editor in the top right there is a "view all" drop down. One option is deleted. When you upload your old ads with "deleted" status you can view them here byu selecting deleted. However, once you do this the status magically changes back to active. Ergo, don't muck around and save your changes as soon as you upload. Good luck.

I am also interested to know if we can change status to "inactive" in the same way. I hate that I can't pause an ad for later use.

Please post a reply with your results. I have the same need for updating prices.

    Hi All,

Curently, you cannot pause ads with in an adgroup.

For the type or work you are needing to do to your ads, no process with be quick and easy. Here is a suggestion: if you are constantly adding and deleting ads, why not just modify the price in an existing ad through Ace?

Existing ads have performance data that will help with its delivery. If you are adding new ads and removing the old ones, they will each have to build up its own performance data.

Using Ace, you can just update only the ad with the part you want, the save and upload the change and you will not loose that built up performance data.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you,
